Sweet Quince Smoothie
Difficulty 5 minutes Serves 1-2
Quince, a middle Eastern fruit with quite the history, has been traditionally used to create marmalades and jams. Marlie Centawer shares that in Croatia a quince tree is often planted as an aknowledgment of life, love and fertility after the birth of a child. This smoothie is sweet, creamy and unique, and it wouldn't be a Barefoot and Frolicking creation if it wasn't infused with superfoods as well!
Ingredients 1 small quince, halved
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup soaked almonds
1 large carrot, chopped
3-4 large red chard leaves
1 - 1 1/2 cup fresh, homemade almond mylk
1-2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp maca
1-2 tsp astragalus powder (optional)
Directions 1) Blend ingredients together in a high-speed blender until a smooth consistency is reached. Top with shredded coconut or topping of choice (cacao nibs would be yummy as well).
